Programme Overview

This diploma gives learners a genuine grounding in both sides of the accounting-and-business coin — financial accounting and quantitative methods on one hand, business environment and team leadership on the other — so graduates understand numbers in context, not in isolation.

CIC programme

Why Study This Programme?

Every business runs on financial decisions, and this diploma builds exactly the literacy needed to understand them — whether you're aiming at a finance-specific career or just want business fundamentals that actually include the numbers.

What Does Level 4 Mean?

Level 4 — Higher education / first-year degree-level academic development

Level 4 is the entry point of tertiary-level study within the UK's Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). OTHM assesses its Level 4 qualifications as academically equivalent to a Higher National Certificate (HNC) and Year 1 of a three-year UK Bachelor's degree. This is academic equivalence within the relevant framework, not automatic entry into or award of a Bachelor's degree — a Level 4 Diploma is a diploma qualification, not a degree.

Your WASSCE Results Do Not Have to Define Your Future

CIC provides structured qualification pathways for students who may need an alternative route into higher education. Depending on your academic background and this programme's entry requirements, CIC may provide a structured pathway into further study. This is not a promise of admission to any specific programme or university — entry remains subject to meeting the requirements above.

Assessment

Assessment is conducted through coursework and structured assignments in accordance with the applicable OTHM qualification specification. Learners are assessed on their achievement of each unit's specified learning outcomes and assessment criteria, with work internally assessed and quality assured by the centre, and externally verified by OTHM.

Why Assignment-Based Learning?

Coursework and structured assignments let you apply what you're learning directly, build genuine research and critical-thinking skills, and demonstrate your understanding through written, evidence-based work rather than a single exam. This is not "easier" — it still requires meeting the qualification's full learning outcomes and assessment criteria.

University progression is subject to the admission, recognition, credit-transfer and programme-specific requirements of the receiving university. Completion of an OTHM qualification does not by itself guarantee admission, advanced standing or credit transfer at any particular university.
